CSB has been working for months on an exciting project with film journalist Andrew Urban of Urbancinefile. We’re interviewing film and television practitioners about their business experiences.
Our aim is to develop a deeper understanding about the history of business decision-making in film and television and to share with our audience the wisdom from the accumulated mistakes, experiments and achievements of the contributors.
Rex Wong - biography
Rex Wong is the CEO of IPTV pioneer DAVE Networks, which powers online video social communities around brands including Disney, CBS, MGM, Endemol, Fremantle and Oxygen Networks. DAVE Networks also powers NEXT.TV, the revolutionary Internet TV service delivered to millions of HP notebooks. Rex is a successful Internet and IT entrepreneur and investor. His previous companies include Applied Semantics, the creators of AdSense, which was acquired by Google, and Accelertech/Einux, a server manufacturer where Rex was President and Founder, which was acquired in 2003.
Rex also serves on the Board of Directors of Adegy, China Genetics and Citation Publishing and is an investor in numerous technology startups. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Envision, a computer retail chain located in Southern California, Executive Vice President for Microcom Computers, Managing Director of the Bureau of China Trade and Investment, and Editor-in-Chief of China Watch and China Watch Online. He is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Interactive TV Alliance (ITA), Monte Jade and the Media Entertainment Technology Alliance (METAL).
